If you’re like most parents, you have thousands of pics of your loved ones on your phone. But are you actually backing up those pictures? What about even the simple stuff like your contacts?
How to do it
iOS – just use iCloud. It’s integrated well to backup your settings and pics/videos and will get the job done. Concerned about iCloud hacking? Check out our section on setting a good password and two-factor authentication.
Otherwise, the paid-for versions are affordable. If a few dollars a month is too expensive to protect your memories… well, that’s your call! https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201318
Android – Google Photos is the natural choice here for pics and videos, plus they offer you free and unlimited storage for pictures and videos if
you choose to have your pictures compressed. Check this site
out and see if you can tell the difference between an original picture and a compressed one.
Backing up your phone settings is a little tricker and I recommend going with your phone manufacturers recommendations. So if you’re with Samsung, setup an account
with them but only backup your settings – not pics and videos.
